Sigitas Staniunas Performance with Capoeira Masters, Itaparica island, Brazil, 2012

During my career I have always been interested in the ideas of intercultural communication, its social, historical and other aspects, along with the ideas of cultural inheritance, development and progress. The influence of post-modern philosophy determined my interest in European and other ancient cultures, their utilization in contemporary art. In 2012 Sigitas Staniunas was an artist in residency for one month in Instituto Sacatar, Brazil. During his stay artist created cycle of paintings and few art events in collaboration with capoeira masters of  Itaparica.
